第9课的内容：
一、重要句型或语法
1、介词的用法
本课侧重的是表时间的介词的用法，主要有at/in/on。其中，in一般后接月份、季度和年份;on一般后接星期或日期;at一般后接几点几分。
2、不定代词
本课侧重的是not..any相当于no的用法，如：He has no coffee.就相当于He doesn"t have any coffee.
二、课文主要语言点
On Wednesday evening, we went to the Town Hall. 1)Wednesday evening是周几，所以要用介词on。 2)the Town Hall表示市政厅，因为是专门组织名称，所以首字母要大写。
It was the last day of the year and a large crowd of people had gathered under the Town Hall clock. 1)the last day of the year，一年的最后一天。 2)a large crowd of，一大群。 3)had gathered，之所以用过去完成时，是因为前一句动作谓语为was，而此前人们已经聚集到大钟下了，所以为过去的过去，要用过去完成时。
It would strike twelve in twenty minutes" time. 1)strike在此表示敲打，但一般只用作钟敲响几点钟。strike也可表示击打，如：Strike the iron while it is hot.(趁热打铁) 2)in twenty minutes" time，二十分钟之后，表将来，所以动作谓语要用would。
Fifteen minutes passed and then, at five to twelve, the clock stopped. 此处的at five to twelve前后用逗号隔开，起到强调作用。此外，时间状语前置，也可以突出后面所要表达的“钟停了”。
The big minute hand did not move. 此处的hand意为指针，一般建筑物上的大钟只有时针(hour hand)和分钟(minute hand)，没有秒针(second hand)。
We waited and waited, but nothing happened. 可以把这个句子作为常用句型来运用，即：sb. waited and waited, but...。
Suddenly, someone shouted, "It"s two minutes past twelve! The clock has stopped!" 此处可复习几点过几分(分钟+past+小时)和几点差几分(分钟+to+小时)的用法。
I looked at my watch. It was true. 1)此处的It was true，简短有力，与前面的长句形成对比，起到一定的强调作用。 2)注意提醒学生true的拼写，学生经常拼错为ture。
The big clock refused to welcome the New Year. 1)本句话用了拟人的修辞手法，因为refuse和welcome只用于有生命的人或物。refuse后接名词或to do。 2)可补充New Year"s Eve(除夕)的表达。
At that moment, everybody began to laugh and sing. 1)at that moment前置，起到尾重的作用，使得后面人们的所作得到强调。 2)注意区分laugh(大笑)与smile(微笑)。laugh at表示嘲笑，smile at表示对着...微笑。
三、读写重点
1、可介绍长句和短句，突出短句的强调作用。
