How to build up self-confidence
Self- confidence plays an important role in our life. We can do nothing well without self-confidence. There are, I think, three steps to build up our self=confidence. First we should believe ourselves. This is the basic part of building self-confidence. Then we should start from the easy things. It will greatly encourage us if we do these things well. At last we should make progress step by step by dealing with problems which are much harder to be done well.
First step:Believe you yourself. Saying is much easier than doing. But we have no choice. We must believe ourselves. If we don’t think we can deal with something well, then we are determined to fail before we setting up to do it. We should tell us that even we can’t doit very well, but at least we can make some changes. The most important part is to remind ourselves that we can make some differences.
To encourage ourselves, wo must start from the easy things. Rome was not built in a day. For x example, I was not good at English grammar when in high school, I was upset when I made many mistakes in the exams. Then my English teacher told me to do from the easies part. And he gave me some very easy exercise to practice. I found it enjoyable when I was doing the exercise. Day after day, I was not afraid of doing English grammar exercise. And my self-confidence was built by starting from the easy part. So remember that we should choose the simple and ordinary things.
Third we should go father after finishing the simple and easy part. When we find that we can handle most problems easily, we should know it is a sign of moving forward. For example, if you can run 3 miles in an hour easily, then you should try to run 4 mile in an hour, and then 5 miles. Just keep moving . The better you do, the more confident you will be.Then one day you will find you have surpassed most people around you. And at this time you will find that your self-confidence is built up already.

Mr. Xu:
This is Sophie, One of the students in New Concept English lessons . I am a junior, major is Fine Art ,not be accomplished in English. I have not went to the senior high school. After the study in middle school ,I went to the normal school to go on my study. I spent 5years in the normal school ,and then I passed the examination to went to the university.
我还是用中文写吧，嘿嘿。。。。上面想表达的意思就是，我现在是一名大三的学生，美术学专业。但是，从来没有读过高中，是初中毕业后读的五年制师范，后来通过专转本考试进入大学，直接插在大三的班里上课。所以，我是一个比较矛盾的人，虽然已经是大三了，但是很多大三的学生应该掌握的知识我还是不行。最明显的就是英语。我也不知道为什么艺术类的学生英语都不是太好，象我这样的水平在我们班已经算不错了。当然，我们学校对艺术类学生没有过国家四级的要求。
因为想考研的，所以才在拼命学英语。不知道我现在的水平离考研还有多远，每次想到这个问题，我就会抓狂。也想过要申请出国读，但不知道象我这样发展下去还有多久才能达到雅思6.5的水平。请Mr.Xu就我现在的想法和情况，给一点学英语的建议吧。我是寒假刚上完新东方的四级班，然后现在学的新概念。我知道自己的水平很有限，而想法确很高，似乎有点不切实际，但这些想法也是因为新东方的老师的一句话“Jump for the sun ,at least you land on the moon .”

Self-confidence, an Important Quality For You to Be Successful
Currently, people have to face an urgent problem of competition. In the world, everyday there are many people losing their jobs, or hunting for a job. How can you stand stably in the society? There are a couple of reasons booming this phenomenon. In my opinion, if you want to be successful, one of the most significant is your self-confidence.
Self-confidence is one of the requirement of success. On the long journey of our life, we will meet for dozens of failure. If we don’t possess enough self-confidence, success will be abandoned. Napoleon is in the possession of self-confidence, so he became the successful owner in the political field. Many famous scientists, philosophers, artists etc, they all have this quality.
Self-confidence could make you cheerful. We had never found, that a person full of sad become a success. When you are delighted, you will feel the world is very beautiful, and then you may be eager to work of study and get more knowledge, you will be successful in the end.
Self-confidence could deliver a good impression on the others. It appears your appearance. A corporation does not need employees who always consider themselves not do the case well. If a job hunter can make the best use of the interview and leave a good impression on the mind of the interviewer, he may be lucky enough to get the job. If, on the other hand, the job seeker gives a poor performance during the interview, he is unlikely to stand a chance.
Given the above factors, I can draw a conclusion: self-confidence is an important quality for you to be successful. Give yourself the quality from now on, you will be successful!
