When I was alittle girl, I felt so happy I thought everyone was just as happy as I. At that time, I had many, many beautiful dreams: I wanted to be a doctor, a writer, a teacher, a scientist, a pop star, and even a leader of the country.?
But later I met agirl about my age and she changed my mind. It was when I went to a village to spend my holidays that I met this girl and soon we became good friends. She had long jet?black hair, but not as well?groomed as mine. She wore an old, worn?out coat, not nearly as beautiful as mine. But her big eyes were so bright and expressive as if they were able to speak. She was the oldest child in her family. She had two brothers. At first, we didn?t talk much in the house, as her mother didn?t allow her to come into the room in which I lived. One day, when I invited her to have a walk with me along the bank of the river, she began to talk. She told me she wanted to go to school very much. But she couldn?t. Her parents had arranged for her to marry a man the next year. She was so sad when she said this. But she didn?t cry. She only said she had no choice but to obey her parents or her brothers would have no money to go to school. She spoke so slowly, so softly and so unhappily as if invisible tears were running deep into her heart.?
I was shocked when I heard this. She was only fifteen years old! She was still a child! But she couldn?t do what she wanted to. She could not play games, watch TV, or even go to school. Instead, she had to do a lot of washing and cooking and other house chores as well as farm work. What was worse, she had to marry a man against her own will, simply for her brothers? sake.?
Ever since then, my dream has changed. I have got a new dream now. It is no longer for myself. It is for everyone.?
My dream is that, one day, all children can go to school.?
My dream is that all people will live a happy life.?
My dream is that everyone could do things he or she rightfully wants to.?
My dream is that everyone can laugh merrily and poverty will be abolished.?
I have a dream...?
I am sure my dream will come true in the near future as long as we all study well and work hard to build China into a powerful and prosperous socialist country.?
